Besides conventional ceiling lighting, a "no main light" design often incorporates additional light sources on background walls, cabinets, and raised platforms to achieve a more even, bright, and layered lighting effect. Below are some common design methods for a "no main light" design:
① Recessed Ceiling + LED Strips
A recessed design is created around the perimeter of the ceiling, and LED strips are concealed within these recesses. When the strips are turned on, the entire space is illuminated from all sides, and the light source is reflected, resulting in a more even and comfortable lighting effect and a warmer atmosphere.
② Flat Ceiling + Recessed Lights
Concealed recessed lights/spotlights are also a common solution in a "no main light" design. These concealed lighting fixtures are typically used in ceilings... On flat or suspended ceilings, a simple ceiling design can be maintained to achieve a uniform and bright effect without a main light, while keeping the space simple and elegant.
③ Surface-mounted downlights
If the ceiling height doesn't allow for a suspended ceiling, or if you don't want a suspended ceiling but still want a no-main-light design, then consider using surface-mounted downlights. This allows you to achieve a relatively simple and elegant effect without a suspended ceiling, at a lower cost.
④ Surface-mounted track lights
For no-main-light designs without a suspended ceiling, besides downlights and spotlights, track lights are also a common choice, especially in the ceiling above a feature wall. By designing a set of track lights that complements the feature wall's design or artwork, a very flexible, beautiful, and layered lighting effect can be achieved.
